Abstract: Behavior analysts are often ill prepared to build an anti-oppressive and culturally humble framework in the context of governmental and oppressive systems. In light of the US supreme court ruling to overturn Roe v Wade, behavior analysts are met with compounding personal and professional impacts. Abortion access is directly tied to body autonomy, disability justice, anti-racist reckoning, Black liberation, and Transgender healthcare. This opportunity will unpack abortion access as social justice work, understand disproportionate impacts of the supreme court decision to overturn Roe v Wade on Black birthers, and learn language and behaviors needed to ensure Transgender inclusivity in advocacy. Presenters will discuss the impact of well-intended problematic messaging in terms of reproductive activism and be given resources for building abortion care as part of their anti-racist frameworks. Presentation is provided by subject matter expert and doctor of public health, Dr. Gemma Skuraton and PhD candidate and BCBA Gabriella Barrientos.
