LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Fitness Professional Course

Continuing Education Units (CEUs): This course is approved for Ethics CEU credit for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). Participants will also be able to petition for CEU credit with the following agencies:

American Council on Exercise (ACE Fitness) Ethics CEUs
Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)
National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (BOC)
NCHEC: Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)

The LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Fitness Professional Course includes guest lectures from the lived experience of LGBTQIA+ fitness/wellness customers as well as a Board Certified LGBTQIA+ Affirming Physician Assistant.

Participants will be able to download 17 different handouts including;

Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (JEDI) Rubric to assist fitness professionals/organizations for assessing a baseline in current inclusive policies and practices.
Inclusive Downloadable Health & Medical History Form
Lists of LGBTQIA+ affirming brands, products and fitness influencers
Pronoun and Affirming Language cards

LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Fitness Professional Course Description:

It is critical for fitness professionals to improve their competency and actively practice allyship to affirm and create a safe wellness environment for LGBTQIA+ clients. The LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Fitness course will teach fitness professionals how to actively dismantle the binary, homophobic, fatphobic, transphobic, racist and ableist lens of exercise science which historically has played a role in fitness service participation among this population. Participants will learn strategies for creating an equitable, ethical and affirming culture, safety considerations during physical activity for gender diverse clients and improving health outcomes for folks who are gender and/or relationship diverse. To become a LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Fitness Professional participants will complete each of the modules asynchronously as well as pass the quiz associated with the material and a final exam. The course is approximately 10 hours in length and is approved for ETHICS CEUs and 4.0 BCBA ETHICS CEUs. Participants will also be able to petition for CEU credit with the following agencies:
